Rangers defeated Panathinaikos 2-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League second qualifying round tie at Ibrox Stadium.

Rangers opened the scoring in the 32nd minute through a close-range finish. The hosts doubled their lead in the 67th minute with a well-placed shot from outside the box.

Rangers recorded 14 shots with 5 on target, while Panathinaikos managed 8 shots with only 2 testing the goalkeeper. The Scottish side held 58% possession.

Rangers progressed to the third qualifying round after a 1-1 draw in the second leg on July 30, securing a 3-1 aggregate victory.
