This Friday (7), the draw for the first round of the 2025 Copa do Brasil took place in Rio de Janeiro, officially kicking off the competition. A total of 80 teams will participate, and the matchups for the first round have already been defined. The games will take place from February 19 to 26, with the winners advancing to the next round. In this stage, we will see many exciting matchups, including major teams from the Série A such as Atlético Mineiro, Fluminense, Grêmio, and Vasco, facing challenging teams from various regions of Brazil in search of a spot in the next phase.
When does the 2025 Copa do Brasil start?
The 2025 Copa do Brasil is set to begin on February 19 with the first round, and the tournament will conclude on November 9, with the final contested over two matches.

The first round will follow a single elimination format, where the home team will be determined by the lower-ranked teams.
Changes in the Rules for the 2025 Copa do Brasil
The CBF has made changes to the rules for the 2025 Copa do Brasil, allowing players who participate in the first two phases to transfer to another team, but limited to playing for up to two teams. Additionally, each team may register up to three players who have played for other teams. In the first round, ties will go directly to penalties, and there will no longer be a classification criterion for ties, with the visiting team still having the advantage of playing away.

Prize Money
The CBF will distribute over 500 million reais in prizes to the 92 teams participating in the Copa do Brasil.

Teams such as Bahia, Botafogo, Corinthians, Flamengo, Fortaleza, Internacional, Palmeiras, and São Paulo are already directly qualified for the third phase of the Copa do Brasil. Additionally, Paysandu, Santos, and CRB also advance directly to the third phase. The CRB earned this spot after Fortaleza qualified for the Copa Libertadores, leaving the spot for CRB.
