On this Wednesday (October 30), in the semifinal of the Copa Sudamericana, held at La Fortaleza, the Cruzeiro team defeated Lanús by 1-0.
Cruzeiro has reached the Copa Sudamericana final for the first time. After drawing the first match 1-1, the Brazilian team traveled to the stadium in Belo Horizonte and, with the help of goalkeeper Cássio, secured the victory, thus guaranteeing their spot in the final.
Match Highlights: Lanús x Cruzeiro
The Lanús team controlled most of the first half, but failed to score. The team struggled with three factors: the excellent performance of Cássio, the crossbar, and offside calls. In the first 40 minutes, the home team was more active, especially with their star player, Marcelino Moreno, who had several dangerous attempts, including an incredible goal that was disallowed for offside.
Meanwhile, Kaio Jorge from Cruzeiro took advantage of a rebound from goalkeeper Náuer Lozada to score the winning goal in the second half. His first attempt was blocked by the opposing defense, but the second shot was precise.
Cruzeiro
Cruzeiro became the 11th Brazilian team to reach the final of the Copa Sudamericana. Before them, clubs such as São Paulo, Flamengo, Bragantino, Goiás, Chapecoense, Atlético Mineiro, Fluminense, Internacional, Ponte Preta, and Fortaleza had already achieved this feat.
