The first home match of the Tottenham Hotspur this season was a fantastic 4-0 victory over Everton, and it was great to see the team shine at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Yves Bissouma finally scored for Tottenham Hotspur, and Cristian Romero celebrated his 100th appearance with a goal, making the day memorable.
It was the perfect way for Tottenham Hotspur to kick off their home campaign in the Premier League. Bissouma, who missed last week's game against Leicester City, made a strong return by scoring the opening goal. Heung-Min Son capitalized on a mistake from Jordan Pickford to double Tottenham Hotspur's lead before halftime.
Match Highlights
Romero marked his special milestone with a well-timed header, and Son completed the scoring with a fourth goal after a brilliant run from Micky van de Ven. Tottenham Hotspur also saw a promising debut from Wilson Odobert, who recently joined the team from Burnley.
A Dominant First Half
Just like in the previous game at King Power Stadium, Tottenham Hotspur started strong, creating numerous chances. This time, they secured a crucial two-goal lead by halftime. Son played a clever ball over to Romero, who controlled it but shot straight at Pickford. Son's curling attempt was deflected by Dwight McNeil, and Pickford had to stretch to make the save.
Match Control
Romero then found James Maddison at the edge of the area, but Pickford was quick to close down his shot. Maddison then crossed for Brennan Johnson, whose header went narrowly wide. Tottenham Hotspur finally broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Bissouma unleashed a powerful 20-yard shot that hit the crossbar before going in. It was his first goal for Spurs in his 57th appearance.
Everton, who had lost to Brighton 3-0 in their previous game, almost equalized when Jack Harrison missed a chance in the box. Instead, after twenty-five minutes, Tottenham Hotspur quadrupled their lead. Son capitalized on a mistake from Pickford, who made a casual touch that allowed Son to steal the ball and score into an empty net.
Everton was dangerous from set pieces, with Tarkowski coming close twice with headers from corners. Maddison also had to clear a shot from Abdoulaye Doucoure.
In the second half, Guglielmo Vicario made a crucial save to deny Jesper Lindstrom, and shortly after, Maddison's free kick went close. Tottenham Hotspur added their third goal in the 71st minute when Maddison's corner was met by Romero's header, which hit the crossbar again.
Six minutes later, Van de Ven intercepted a pass and made an impressive 80-yard run before setting up Son, who calmly slid the ball through Pickford's legs for Tottenham Hotspur's fourth goal. It was the perfect ending to a fantastic afternoon in N17.
Ange Postecoglou made three changes from the game against Leicester. Odobert made his debut, replacing the injured Dominic Solanke, while Bissouma and Kulusevski came on for Rodrigo Bentancur (concussion protocol) and Pape Matar Sarr. Fraser Forster also returned to the bench after recovering from injury.
