Although Flamengo and São Paulo are big clubs that have never been relegated, other traditional teams in Brazil have faced the pain of relegation. Below is a list of 12 major clubs in Brazil and their histories of falling to the Série B:

• Santos: Relegated in 2023. The Santos, with its long history, was relegated for the first time in 2023, marking the end of an era of dominance in Brazilian football's elite.

• Corinthians: Relegated in 2007. The São Paulo club fell to the Série B in 2007, but quickly bounced back the following year and won the competition title.

• Palmeiras: Relegated in 2002 and 2012. The Verdão went through two relegations but always bounced back strongly to the Série A, showcasing its resilience.

• Vasco da Gama: Relegated in 2008, 2013, 2015, and 2020. The Rio de Janeiro club faced four relegations but continued fighting to return to the Série A.

• Botafogo: Relegated in 2002, 2014, and 2020. The Glorioso also fell to the Série B on three occasions but always tried to return to the top of football.

• Fluminense: Relegated in 1996, 1997, and 1998. In the 90s, Fluminense suffered three consecutive relegations, facing tough times in the club's history.

• Atlético Mineiro: Relegated in 2005. The Galo fell to the Série B in 2005 but quickly rose back and returned to the top of Brazilian football.

São Paulo: Created in 1930, São Paulo is known for its stability and achievements. With many important titles, including the Copa Libertadores and the Club World Cup, the São Paulo team has never fallen to the Série B, remaining firmly in the elite of Brazilian football.
