The Conmebol confirmed that the draw for the group stage of the 2025 South American Cup will take place on March 17 (Monday), along with the draw for the Libertadores Cup. This day may also mark the tournament's opening ceremony, following the tradition of previous years.

Brazilian teams will not be in the same group
The draw for the group stage will be based on the pots of each league, and the final confirmation of the group division is still pending from Conmebol. Since the Brazilian teams did not participate in the preliminary phase, the six qualified Brazilian clubs cannot fall into the same group. Similarly, the Argentine clubs – Godoy Cruz, Independiente, Huracán, Unión de Santa Fe, Lanús, and Defensa y Justicia – will also follow this logic, to ensure that teams from the same country do not play in the same group.
2025 Conmebol Year: Overview of the Calendar
The South American football calendar for 2025 begins on January 23 with the South American U-20 Championship, which runs until February 16. In total, there will be 13 competitions, covering youth categories to professional tournaments, as well as futsal and beach soccer. The Libertadores Cup and the South American Cup will have their preliminary phases starting in February and March, respectively, with the finals scheduled for November. The Conmebol World Cup will take place on February 20 and 27, and the Women's America Cup will be held from July to August, without allocating spots for the 2027 Women's World Cup.
