Origin of the Santos Jersey
The Santos Football Club was founded on April 14, 1912, by three athletes from the city of Santos (SP), becoming one of the most iconic and renowned clubs in the world.

The first Santos jersey followed the color scheme defined at the time, with white predominating and blue stripes accompanied by thin golden borders. Although the striped pattern was similar to what we see today, the colors were different.
The Adoption of Black and White
In 1913, due to the difficulty of dyeing the fabric, Paulo Peluccio suggested the adoption of a black-and-white striped uniform, with white shorts. A few months later, the management of Santos decided to create two new models of Santos jerseys: one with a white shirt and black stripes, paired with white shorts and socks, and another completely white. Since then, Santos officially began using the black-and-white uniform starting in 1913.

Changes in the Jerseys of the 80s and 90s
In the 1960s, Santos added two stars above the team crest, representing the Intercontinental Cup titles won in 1962 and 1963. In the 80s, the Santos jersey underwent changes mainly due to the presence of sponsors, which influenced the design. The last major change occurred in the 90s when Santos began wearing stars and checkered shorts, aiming to differentiate itself from Corinthians.

Blue Jersey
During the club's centenary, Santos reintroduced the color blue, launching a third jersey entirely of that color, which became the second uniform for the 2012 season. This change generated some criticism from management and fans, who preferred to see the traditional black and white, which has represented the glorious history of the club for over 100 years.

The Evolution of the Santos Jerseys
Since then, the Santos jerseys have undergone some aesthetic adjustments, but the overall design has remained stable, without causing major changes to the style we are used to seeing during the matches of the Peixe at the Vila Belmiro stadium.
